Robert (Bob) H. Stark

Robert Bob Harvey Stark

October 6, 1932 – June 25, 2023

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Robert (Bob) Harvey Stark at 90 years of age.

Bob will be remembered by his wife of 61 years Jackie, Sons Robert (Angi), Rick (Diana) and Kevin and grandchildren Brolin, Duncan, Jordyn, Ian, and Olivia. Bob was pre-deceased by his parents Robert and Isabel, brother Jackie, sister Edith and sister Evelyn.

Bob grew up in St. Vital and graduated from Glenlawn Collegiate. At 18 and figuring out what to do in life Bob drove to Whitehorse Yukon to work as a labourer.

Returning to Winnipeg he trained as a refrigeration mechanic. Eventually Bob and his new wife Jackie moved to Vancouver where Bob became a Red Seal Journeyman.

Bob then founded Glacier Refrigeration which quickly became one of the largest refrigeration installation and maintenance contractors in Vancouver. Relocating back to Winnipeg in the mid 1970’s, Bob founded Ice Master Industries and Allied Air-conditioning. He eventually sold Ice Master Industries to Rodway Refrigeration where he continued working for several year before eventually retiring.

Approaching retirement Bob became involved in the effort to reduce CFC’s in refrigeration and was the first refrigeration technician to be certified by MOPIA in Manitoba.

In retirement Bob and Jackie split their time between their cottage on the Lee River and a condo in New Braunfels, Texas. Since 2006 Bob and Jackie have lived in Morden, MB.

A grave-side family service was held at the St. Vital Cemetery on Friday June 30, 2023 at 3:00 pm.

  1. My sincere condolences to Jackie, Bob jr, Rick, Kevin, and the rest of the family. I have many fond memories of Bob sr and his colourful storytelling when I was young hanging out with the boys on Avalon. He was also gracious to put up with me for a summer when I worked for him at the Rodway shop as a teen. Bob was like a second father to all of us kids in the neighbourhood as we were growing up. Rest in peace.

  2. I am very sorry to read that Bob has passed away. He was a very special man. Deepest condolences to Jackie and family.
