Robert (Bob) Bilak

1938 – 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful man. Bob was born on January 24, 1938, at the beginning of WWII and died at the age of 80.

Bob is predeceased by his Father John (1985); mother Frances (1997) and sister Audrey (2001).

Bob leaves behind his wife Judith (Coldwell) of 58 years; daughters Traci Carver (Mark) and Debra Capitano (Marcello); nephew Robert McQuigge (Liz); grandchildren Anthony, Celina, Gavin and Zachary. Bob was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

Bob lived in East Kildonan for most of his life but later moved to La Salle MB, with wife Judy, to live with Traci, Mark and Gavin. Bob and Judy married in 1960. Judy fell immediately for Bob’s good looks, easy going personality, and his incredible resemblance to Elvis Presley. Dad worked his entire life for Eatons Department Store and retired in 1993. Bob earned the Best Sales Manager in Western Canada Award and he and Judy travelled to Niagara on the Lake to receive this award. Bob was quite saddened by the closure of Eatons and expressed this recently to ICU nurses at the Grace Hospital. Bob would do anything for his “girls”. He helped build cherished memories for his family during yearly summer treks to Pincher Creek Alberta to visit extended family. The family made several stops along the way, visiting many parts of the United States and Canada. Bob had a love of fishing and spending time outdoors with family. Bob was a lover of all animals. Bob would have several pets throughout his lifetime and sadly, just recently, lost his friend Buster. Bob was a gifted carpenter and made several beautiful pieces of furniture, boats and one special piece, in particular, his first grandchild’s cradle. Bob was gifted in the art of Intarsia and was able to gift many beautiful pieces. Bob was an incredibly friendly man that was always willing to help someone build a fence, rec room, deck or garage. Bob was always upbeat and enormously cheerful. Bob will live forever in the hearts of his family.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and care given by the Grace Hospital ICU, and the compassion and care given to Bob during his final days spent at the Morris General Hospital.

Please join us for a come and go Celebration of Life, on Bob’s birthday, January 24, 2019, at Nor Villa Hotel, 1763 Henderson Hwy, in the banquet room from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society to celebrate Bob’s love of animals.
