Peter Sarantopoulos

sarantopoulos

August 7, 1942 – February 15, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather who died peacefully on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023 at the age of 80.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children John (Connie), Angela (Phil), and Georgia; sisters Adrianna and Dina (George); brothers- and sisters-in-law Vicky, Erasmia, Nick (Haitho), Bill (Betty), Maria, Diamanto, and Toula; nine grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Peter was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Demitra; his brother Bob and sister Georgia, and his brothers-in-law John, Kyriakos, Greg, Michali, Theodore, and George.

Peter was born on August 7, 1942 in Vamvakou, Greece, to John and Angela Sarantopoulos. He immigrated to Canada in 1967 in search of a better life. He met his future wife here at a dance. As the story goes, Demitra was wearing a beautiful green dress and with one look, Peter knew she was the one. They raised three children together and instilled their faith in Jesus in them.

Peter worked extremely hard to provide for his family. He worked as a welder for 40 years and he ingrained his hard work ethic into his children. He always said how grateful he was to live in Canada.

Peter always met up with numerous friends at the local coffee shop. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his best friend and brother-in-law, John.

Peter’s great love was his garden. He spent long hours every day during the summer months enjoying the outdoors and watching his garden flourish. He loved sharing his vegetables and apples with his neighbours and friends.

Special thanks to Meadowood Manor for the exceptional care for our father. Also, a special thank you to his loving neighbours for the help they provided when needed.

Peter’s funeral will be held Saturday, February 18th, 2023 at noon at St. Demetrios’ Greek Orthodox Church (2255 Grant Avenue) with Rev. Fr. Nick Tambakis presiding.

May God bless his soul and his memory be eternal.
