“BOSS”

It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the peaceful passing of Peter on October 15, 2019.

Left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife Janet of 58 years; his daughter Dana; son-in Law Clint; brother Alfie; grand-fur babies, Archie and Sully; along with numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews and countless friends and former students.

Peter was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Annie Kowalyk and nine brothers and sisters.

Peter was born in Ozerna, Manitoba. His family moved to Winnipeg when he was a child where he grew up in the North End and made many lifelong friends. He began his career in the printing industry and later became a Graphic Arts teacher at Lord Selkirk Regional Secondary School where he taught for 27 years until his retirement in 2000.

Peter enjoyed bowling, curling, fishing, playing pool, and watching high school hockey games for teams that Dana managed. But his true passion was golf. He loved everything about the game and played rounds on many courses. He also marshalled for many years at The Meadows and Kildonan Golf Courses.

In their retirement he and Jan travelled to Arizona, Alaska, Texas, California, Las Vegas and Hawaii where they made many beautiful memories together. Peter was very devoted to his wife, daughter and son-in-law Clint. He loved them with all of his heart. Family was very important to him and he always did his best to be present at family events. Over the years, he became a surrogate Dad or Grandpa to many. Peter was a generous, fun loving man who would give anyone the shirt off of his back if it was needed. He made friends wherever he went. His kind heart, gentle nature and incredible sense of humour lit up any room he entered. He touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.

Special thanks to the medical staff on Cardiac Unit 5A at St. Boniface Hospital for making his final days comfortable.

A Celebration of Peter’s life will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 472 Kirkfield Street at Mcbey Avenue.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to the animal shelter of your liking or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his memory.

“Peter, we will love you forever and you can never be replaced. You touched so many lives and will never be forgotten.”
