February 23, 1924 – April 2, 2020

With sadness the family announces the passing of Lois on April 2, 2020 at the age of 96 years. Lois was born in Grandview, AB on February 23, 1924. Before she was a year old, she caught scarlet fever and fought to stay alive.

At the age of 17 she moved to Winnipeg. In 1966 she met Blair and they married in the same year. Blair passed away from a sudden illness in 1997.

Lois worked at Scotts Fruit and at a hat place in Winnipeg. Lois lost her husband Blair and eight brothers and sisters and her one son. She is survived by one sister Edith Green. Lois is also survived by her daughter Edith ( Richard ) and daughter Tracy ( Bill ) grandchild Anyetta; son Douglas ( Margaret ).

Lois turned 96 on February 23, 2020. She was battling phenomena for a couple of weeks at Tracy’s home prior to entering the hospital on the morning of February 28, 2020. This is when she started to have breathing and strength problems. Walking had become a very tough thing to do for her. Upon arriving at urgent care it was discovered that her pneumonia had returned with a vengeance. For the first week she was up and down with her health and began to stop eating at the 3 week mark. The only person that could get Lois to eat was her granddaughter Anyetta, or Sweetie-Pie as Lois would call her. They had a very special bond together. Tracy would spend all day and evening at her moms bedside; when the corona virus hit Tracy was no longer able to visit. Lois’ and her health deteriorated very rapidly with Tracy not being there to keep her spirits up. Her son Douglas and his wife Margaret spent as much time as they were allowed to be there with her due to the corona virus. Near the end of Lois’ time, in the second last  week Douglas and Margaret would go and give Tracy breaks to regroup and be with her daughter Anyetta and husband Bill. As the days went by Lois would try to sit up and look outside. At a point they even had her up walking and at that point we thought that maybe a bounce back was coming, however, it was very short lived and things went downhill very fast.

On the evening of Thursday, April 2 just after Tracy had been there all day and had just arrived back home, she received the phone call that nobody wants to hear. At around 10:07 p.m we were informed that Lois had taken her final breath on this earth. Lois very much loved all of her many grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Lois is now without pain and will spend her eternal life watching over us all and enjoying time with her loving husband Blair. You will be missed. You will always be in our hearts and thoughts. We all love you.
