Helen Hunt nee Verhoski

March 21, 1931 – October 6, 2018

With heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of their loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbour, Helen at the age of 87.

Helen was predeceased by her parents Mary and Frank Verhoski; husband Robert (Bert) Hunt; granddaughter Stephanie; sisters Elsie Verhoski and Mary Packer; and brother John Verhoski.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Beverly (Randy Kittle), Linda (Ralph Luedecke), Nancy (Nick Vogiatzakis) and Patricia; step-daughter Audrey (Gordie); seven grandchildren Jennifer, Nichole, Amanda, Kris, Kelly, Justin and Robert; five great-grandchildren Kathleen, Paulie, Dexter, Nick Jr and Leighton; sisters Emily Heaver and Anne Milowski; along with numerous extended family members, friends, special friend Rose, and many neighbours’.

Helen was born in Winnipegosis, Manitoba, lived in Dauphin, Manitoba and then settled in Winnipeg. She worked at Moore’s Family Restaurant, where she met our dad Robert Hunt. She then worked at Canada Packers till its closing in 1987 and retired at that time.

Mom had a great sense of humour and loved talking to people. She enjoyed cooking, especially big family meals and baking. She also adored canning, gardening and at one going out to pick berries. She shared her cooking, baking and canning with family, many friends and neighbours. She even went fishing with her kids and loved being out on the open water.

She cherished the many drives her and dad took together all over the place. She loved spending time with all her family and was always doing something for them. Mom adored her few visits to Medicine Hat, Alberta with Beverly, rides with Amanda around town or to Lockport for ice cream or a hot dog, being Nancy’s co-pilot for many drives to doctor’s appointments or shopping. Mom also went on many trips shopping down to the States, a trip to Mexico and Pinawa to visit Jennifer and family.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave at Henderson Hwy. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery.
