October 20, 1943 – January 16, 2020

Surrounded by his loving family, Gerry passed away in the early morning hours of January 16, 2020.

Gerry was predeceased by his wife Darlene, daughters Charlene and Laurie, and brother-in-laws Gerald and Gord.

Left to cherish Gerry’s memory are his five children Craig, Michele (Al), Derrick (Vera), Randy (Shauna), Lisa, twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brother Darrin (Terry), sister Joyce, best friend Donny, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many other friends.

Gerry was born in Winnipeg and later moved to Fort William (Thunder Bay) where he met Darlene. Together with their children, they moved to Winnipeg and settled in what would be and still is their family home on Aberdeen. He could often be seen sitting on the front porch while having his morning tea. In his spare time, Gerry competed in crib and pool tournaments which he enjoyed and was very good at. He took pride in decorating his home with lights at Christmas time which earned him recognition and awards in the North End community. Gerry was a hard worker. He worked for Pepsi then Hostess and later became a roofer working with his buddy. Gerry retired at age 60 but continued doing roofs into his 70’s. After retirement Gerry could be found working on projects for the house or at one of the neighborhood legions having a cold one (or two) with the boys. Gerry had a great sense of humour and was always kidding around. He loved going to family get togethers. Gerry liked watching Jeopardy.  He would watch the early episode so he’d have the answers for later to show off when he watched the evening episode with family.

You are loved and will be sadly missed. You will always be in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday January 24 from 2:00-4:00 p.m., at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 30 (Hartford), 1748 Main Street.

  1. Uncle Gerry growing up you were always my favorite Uncle and the for the most part like a father. I will miss you so much and love you forever.

  2. Condolences to you and your family. Marie Leforte, Gerry’s sister in law would very much like to send her condolences too. If any of the family are able to connect with her she would appreciate it greatly. She is at Fair Haven Society Homes, Vancouver BC. God Bless You.

  3. A good friend and colleague of Joe

My condolences go out to Dr. Lagimodiere on the untimely passing of Mr. Lagimodiere. The Honourable Alan Lagimodiere and I had a very nice conversation about our careers when we were playing bocce on the Legislative Grounds. My thoughts and prayers are with the Honourable Minister and his respective friends at this very sensitive time.
