March 20, 1932 – December 23, 2025
Evelyn Buchanan died peacefully at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg on December 23, 2025, at the age of 93, with family at her side.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Douglas Buchanan; her second husband, Marijan “Mario” Snajdar; her son, Glen; her brother, Dave Nadeau, and his wife, Terry Nadeau; and her parents, Genina and Napoleon Nadeau.
She leaves to remember her: her daughter, Gale (Peter) Bergen; her son, Donald (Joanne Klein); her brother, Phil (Leone); her granddaughters, Lorraine Bergen and Lindsay Grennier (Bryan); her great‑granddaughter, Sadie Rose Evelyn Grennier; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Evelyn was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on March 20, 1932. She often shared stories of a very happy childhood, filled with warmth and laughter. Those joyful memories continued into her young adulthood, where she spoke fondly of the jobs she held and the people she met along the way.
In 1954, she married and began raising her family. She was incredibly dedicated to caring for her husband, who faced several challenging health issues, and she met those challenges with strength and devotion. She managed the household and cared for her children in a way that left us with countless memories of happy times.
In her later years, she worked outside the home, where she met several very special, lifelong friends. After retiring, she met and married her second husband, and together they enjoyed travelling and sharing many hobbies for nearly a decade. After becoming a widow for the second time, she filled her days with the companionship of friends and family — and, of course, her beloved dogs.
In keeping with Evelyn’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.
Her family would like to extend their deep appreciation and thanks to everyone at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for their exceptional care.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, 276 Hugo Street North, Winnipeg, MB, R3M 2N6, https://tchw.com, Phone: 204‑453‑4663.
“God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be; So He put His arms around you and whispered, ‘Come with Me.’
With tearful eyes we watched you suffer and saw you fade away; although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard‑working hands at rest; God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.”
