On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, Edward Atamanchuk passed away at the age of 86.

Edward was born on February 6, 1933, in Pine Ridge, Manitoba to Alexander and Sophie (Solinski). On November 16, 1957, he married Lucille Bessette. Together they raised a son, Wayne, and two daughters, Karen and Colleen.

Edward worked at Manitoba Hydro for 33 years. He took great pride in raising and gently guiding his family throughout his life, providing support whenever it was requested or needed. Eddy spent several winters working in Northern Manitoba to ensure a better life for his family. He was a loving and caring father and husband, supportive of all his children’s dreams and activities.

In retirement, he became an avid golfer, enjoying many rounds with family and friends, and played in the Heather Senior Golf men’s league. Camping and fishing were favourite past times of Ed’s and most summer weekends were happily spent at Big Whiteshell Lake with family. Family vacations were an important part of his life, with Edward packing everyone into the family car for trips across Canada and into the United States.

One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren (Robyn, Scott, Kendra, Keegan and Amie), and in the last few years, his great-grandchildren (Cleo, Nolan, Lilith and Malcolm). Their growing personalities always brought a smile to his face. Eddy was known as a kind and generous spirit.

Edward was predeceased by his parents in 1981, his sister Evelyn in 2005, and his brother Donald in 2010. He is survived by and will be greatly missed by, Lucille, his loving wife of 63 years, three children, Wayne (Gail), Karen, Colleen (Jim), five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and his brother Arthur (Jeanette).

No funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials be made in Edward’s name to the Concordia Foundation (www.concordiafoundation.ca).
