Picture of Donald Arthur Greenaway

Peacefully on May 14, 2020, with family at his side, Donald Greenaway passed away at the age of 80.

Don was predeceased by his parents Chester and Muriel and brothers Robert and Edward.

Don will be deeply missed by his wife Anita; son Gary (Donna); daughter Sharon (Tim); son Brent (Deanna); grandchildren Amanda (Corey), Matthew (Crystal), Brandon, Trevor and Aric; great grandchildren Wade, Cody, Layla, Evelyn and Viola. Don is also survived by his three sisters, Pearl Greenaway, Joan (Lionel) Merrick and Midge (Don) Barry; his brother Bruce (Elizabeth); sisters-in-law, Pat Greenaway, Margaret Sesak and Josie (Al) Dennis; along with many nieces and nephews.

Don was born in Winnipeg Manitoba and lived most of his life in Elmwood. He always looked out for his neighbor and was ready to lend a hand or give advise. On garbage and recycling days you would find him placing everyone’s bins back in place after pickup. Papa’s eyes would always light up and he would have a big smile whenever he was around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For anyone who needed a ride, Dad was the official chauffeur, just give him a call and he was there. Dad’s advise to us was “always do the best you can at anything you do” and “always treat others as you would want to be treated.” Thank you, Dad. Rest in peace.

In accordance with Don’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to any animal shelter or charity of your choice.

One of my fondest memory of Don was when I was babysitting Aric when Deanna and Brent went camping and I took Aric for a walk and locked myself out of their house. Well let me tell you , there was Don with a ladder lickedy split pushing my butt through that window. We laughed so hard about that for years. He’s a man I’ll remember with happy thoughts forever. He’ll never be forgotten. So sorry for your loss to the Greenaway family.
