July 4, 1936 – April 29, 2024
Dave passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on April 29, 2024. He was 87 years old.
He leaves behind his three children David, Angela, and Danny. Mourning his loss is also their mother Laura. He also leaves behind his three grandchildren Jenny (Dion), Bryce and Brandon (Emma), and great-granddaughter Daycie.
Dave was born in Stoney Creek, Ontario to David Sr. and Mabel Livingston. He was the third oldest of ten children. He never shared much about his earlier life but did say that he left home in his teen years. He then worked in construction camps as far west as BC and as far north as what is now Nunavut. Winnipeg became home in the late 1950’s. Throughout his life he continued to work as a truck driver both in the city and long-haul trucking. He made friends everywhere he went and he always “knew a guy.”
In 2010 he suffered a stroke and ended up having to use a wheelchair. Shortly after this, he moved into Arlington Haus. He loved living there and quickly made new friends. The staff at Arlington Haus were wonderful to him. After his stroke, he was well supported by WRHA home care. He always appreciated the help that they provided. His health deteriorated in 2019 and in January 2020 he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. This meant that he needed to move into a personal care home.
The family would like to thank Golden Door Geriatric Centre for taking such good care of him these past 4 years. We also want to thank the doctor and nurses at the St Boniface Hospital ER for their kindness and compassion in his last hours.
Cremation has taken place and as per his wishes, there will be no service.
