Carter Dallas Smith

Carter Dallas Smith

April 23, 2001 – July 12, 2021

Peacefully in his sleep Carter Dallas Smith passed away in the morning of Monday July 12, 2021 at the age of 20.

He will be lovingly remembered by his dad Dillon, brothers Landon and Aiddon, sisters Taylor, Brooke, Deanna, Hailey. His aunties Jenolyn and Jacqueline, uncle Dallas and cousin Sharleen, as well as second cousins Laurie, Victoria, Geraldine, Jaime, Eden and dog Lucky. He was predeceased by his grandmother Stella (1994) and grandfather William (2000).

Carter had a tough life since he was born, but was a true fighter throughout his life. In and out of the hospital, always leaving the doctors guessing.

Carter had many nicknames, Cuppy, Dodgy, Cupacheeno. Cuppy was included with all activities with his family, walks, early and late hockey games, Red River Ex, Assiniboia Downs and watching hockey in the living room with everyone. Anyone who met Carter commented on how beautiful he was.

Even though Carter could not speak, had limited eyesight and could not eat by mouth, his laugh was infectious and he always enjoyed a popsicle or a little taste of ice cream. He loved music, three of his favourite songs were “Hero” by Enrique, “I Love You” by Barney and “The Birthday Song” by 50 Cent.

Special thanks goes out to Alvina Hildebrand head nurse and co-ordinator at Childrens Rehab, Dr. Booth (Neurologist), Dr. Grabowski (Pediatrician), Margarita at MDA and Christine, Geoff, Karen and staff at Brathwaites pharmacy. Life will never be the same without our Carter.

Rose are Red, Violets are Blue

Your family will always love and miss you.

Till we’re all together again, Love you so much Cuppy

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, a precious life has been taken from us too soon. Sending you our love and know that you are ever-present in our thoughts. I can’t think of greater sorrow than that which comes from losing a child, and my heart breaks for you.

So sorry and sad to hear of Carter’s passing. Never met him but by reading how he lived his life to the fullest and how much he was loved I wish I did get to meet my second cousin. RIP and condolences to all. 💙
