June 4th, 1939 – December 25th, 2018
It is with great sadness the Campanella family announces the passing of Calogero (Jack) Campanella, with his family by his side, on December 25, 2018, at 1:15 a.m., at the age of 79 at the St. Boniface General Hospital.
Calogero will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anna (nee Moncado) of 54 years; his five sons Dan (Mary), Aurelio, Claudio (Pudgie), Roberto (Ana) and Joseph (Liz); grandchildren Daniel (Nadyne), Jessica, Marlaina, Kaia, Roberto Jr., Giuseppe (Chelsea), Kiara, Joseph, Nicholas and Stephanie; two great-grandchildren Enzo and Mila Rose along with numerous friends and extended family members.
Calogero was a true warrior who immigrated to Canada from Sicily in 1964. He loved his family, food and had the ultimate zest for life. He was a man of many trades who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Unfortunately, due to a long battle with diabetes, the fight with this illness could no longer be fought. He is now in God’s hands.
We would like to give great thanks to the EMS and all the great staff at the St. Boniface General Hospital (Cardiology Unit).
In respect of Calogero’s wishes, there will be no formal service. His family will hold a private celebration of his life.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Associations.
