1933 – 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Beryl on December 10, 2019 at the age of 86 with family by her side.

Beryl was born in Grand Maris, Manitoba into a very musical family. She was a familiar figure alongside Reg Bouvette (Road House Band) and in later years played with her family in the Knott Band. She made many friends and travelled extensively throughout Canada and the USA were she touched the lives of many. Beryl was also a proud Metis woman and served for several years on the board of Manitoba Metis Child and Family services as an Elder and on the Board of Aboriginal Senior Resource Centre. Over the years she has sincerely cared about everyone who crossed paths with her and in spite of her own advertises she maintained a positive attitude about life. Her warm smile, her sharp wit, her music and caring nature is a legacy that she leaves behind.

She will be truly missed by her children Vallrie (Lorne) Hemphill and Ramonda Frisk-Budd; special grandson Clayton Frisk, Timothy Frisk, Belinda Frisk, Eric (Brenda) Frisk; sisters Fern Wood and Marcella (Doc) Vezina; sister-in-law Emily Knott; step-sister’s Sandy Coderre and Patty Knott; step-brother Wilf Knott Jr.; step-daughters Val and Elaine; daughter-in-law Krys;

five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Beryl was predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Christina Knott; daughter Kathy Scherban; son -in law Archie Budd; brothers Tommy and Conrad Knott; sisters Viola Knott and Muriel Mackelson; first husband Ray Frisk and her second husband Reg Bouvette.

A Celebration of Life in Beryl’s honour will be held at the East St. Paul #215 Legion, 215 Maxwell King Drive, on Friday December 20, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Music will be provided by a few musicians and family.

The family would like to thank all staff at the Luther Home, for their kindness, respectful, care and support they provided for Beryl.

Interment will be held at a later date in Grand Marais, MB.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Cancer Care of Canada or the Alzheimer’s Society.

  1. My dear Beryl, I was thinking about you tonight and feel sadness as I remember our times together on Locksley Bay. Each time I saw you over the years your eyes sparkled and touched my heart.
