Angelina Leigh Mayer

September 25, 1980 – December 21, 2023

Angelina Nicole Leigh Mayer, 43, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2023

Angelina was born on September 25, 1980, to Andrea Frost (Nee Shelton) and Nelson Kenneth Mayer in Dauphin Manitoba.

Angelina moved to Winnipeg with her family at the age of 4. For most of her childhood, she lived in St. Vital and forged many friendships that she would keep into her adult years.

Angelina worked as a leasing administrator/property manager for several years before returning to school at the Aboriginal Community Campus. Following that she completed the Educational Assistant Diploma Program through Jobworks.

Angelina loved working with Children and spent several years working in Winnipeg School Division #1 as a teacher’s aide.

Leigh also loved spending time with her children and family. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and caring for her plants and her pets.

Angelina loved helping others and was quite skilled in cheering people up. She could often be overheard paying random compliments to total strangers.

Leigh had the biggest heart, the most beautiful smile, and the loudest laugh. You always knew when she was in the room. Angelina was fearless and independent, yet sensitive and incredibly compassionate.

Angelina was constantly working on little projects and doing things for others. It was common for her to yell “stop” at a friend driving her around when she saw treasures that she could take home and restore and give to the people she cared about. She saw the beauty in everything and in everybody. Angelina was fiercely protective of her family and friends and would also come to the aide of anyone who she felt was in need of help. Her heart was pure.

Angelina was predeceased by her father Nelson K. Mayer.
She is survived by her daughters Everest Mayer (Calvin Campiou), Tylee Mayer her son Robert Bruce-Mayer her mother Andrea Frost, step-dad Bruce Frost her big brothers Andrew Shelton and Nelson Mayer, and step-mom, Ella Mayer.

Angelina will also be carried in the hearts of the many people whose lives she touched with her larger-than-life personality and huge heart including grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, step-siblings, students and friends far too numerous to name here but she kept a place for all of you in her heart.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 472 Kirkfield Street at McBey Ave.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any pet rescue or shelter organization of your choice. A cause that Angelina felt strongly about.

    1. Thanks for sharing Justin. I’m not sure if we’ve ever met I’m Leigh’s brother. She loved her friends very deeply so I’m sure you had a special place in her heart. I’m also sure she’d want you to always remember how strong you are and that when you are down it doesn’t mean you can’t get back up again. Thank you for loving my sister and being there for her.

  2. I’ll never forget her contagious laugh and beautiful smile. She loved her salads and plants xo
She loved a good bargain find and loved working on small projects. She was very creative. She loved her dogs.
Her children were her greatest joy.
    I’ll miss you Leigh.
    Rest in paradise my friends.
I’ll hold our memories close to my heart forever.

  3. The pain of losing a daughter never truly goes away, it only becomes a part of who we are. Saying goodbye this soon feels wrong. So instead, I’ll just say ‘I love you’ and know you are with me always.

  4. I’m so sorry to learn of the loss of your precious mother/sister/friend, Angelina. My condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time. May God keep her and bless her.

  5. She was one of my bestest friends we’ve know each other since junior high. One of my brides maids . I remember her getting me to go out of my comfort zone and got me to try calamari . It’s eyes we’re looking at me grossed me out but made her laugh so much. She was beautiful inside and out. I’ll never find another friend like her. You’ll be missed by all. Love and miss you Leigh .😞
